Breast augmentation surgery is known to be one of the most popular cosmetic procedure in the world. However, some of Dr. Mounir’s patients are less concerned about the final cup size they would achieve with the surgery than they are about the look of their nipples.
In fact, Manchester plastic surgeon Dr. Abel Mounir has a few surgical options he would always offer to Manchester, Liverpool, and Preston patients to help them achieve their cosmetic outcome. This can include: Less over-projection or less Protrusion:
Few patients have nipples that are naturally dome shaped and poke out when compared to the average woman’s nipples, leading to a more prominent nipple-areola complex making the women feels self-conscious about the size of her nipple.
Usually in these cases, Dr. Mounir would suggest reducing the length of the nipple by deprotecting the tip of the nipple. However, if the areola is also wider then Dr. Mounir may suggest reducing the circumference by removing tissue from the sides. Pointing Nipples inward (Inverted nipples)
Pointing Nipples inward (Inverted nipples). Inverted nipples or the so-called retracted nipples are Patients with nipples pointing inward or simply do not poke outward at all. Generally speaking, about 10 percent of patients have one or both nipples that are inverted, and usually patients are self-conscious about the look of their nipples and do know that they are different from the norm.
Dr. Mounir will examine the degree of the nipple inversion to determine the appropriate surgical option. The goal is to evert the nipple into a permanently outward position but before proceeding with the surgery Dr. Mounir will discuss with you all the risks and complications associated to this procedure for inverted nipple correction especially the risk of loss of breastfeeding ability.
Nipple pointing down. The aging process of the breast is also associated with nipples dropping and/ or pointing down. Usually, Nipple repositioning is a normal part of a breast lift in Manchester; which is also known as a mastopexy. During this surgery, Dr. Mounir will lift the nipples to higher position, making sure they point outward rather than down. This will produce a more youthful look and reduce the signs of the aging process.
Areolas too big! The areolas are the dark-colored skin that surround your nipples and usually it is between four to five centimeters diameter. Unfortunately, sometimes the diameter of the areolas exceeds the seven or even eight centimeter depending on how much skin is pigmented. At the Manchester Cosmetic Centre often patients do request from Dr. Mounir to reduce their larger-sized areolas.
Fortunately, Dr. Mounir can address this issue by making an incision around the perimeter of the areola, he removes the excess pigmented skin, leaving the areolas looking smaller than before the surgery and especially in case that your areolas are uneven in the size, this procedure is a good way to get them more symmetrical.
We encourage Manchester plastic surgery patients to book a consultation with us at Manchester Cosmetic Centre. Regardless of issue that is bothering you and you may have with your nipples, Dr. Mounir will happy to discuss it with you and share with you his honest surgical opinion.
